THE RACES

Monster Dash was open to walkers, race walkers, joggers, wheelchair users, runners and participants of all fitness levels, ages and abilities.

For junior events, fancy dress was encouraged and there were prizes for the best costume. All runners  received a goody bag and there are some great prizes for those raising the most amount of sponsorship money – please see our 'JUNIOR INCENTIVES', 'FUN RUN INCENTIVES' and 'SCHOOLS INCENTIVES' under the 'INCENTIVES' section for details.

Below are some snapshots of each of the events. There are more images from this year in the 'PHOTOS' section.

Event 1 – Little Monsters – Age 4 years and under – 50 metres

This was a short dash for children aged 4 years and under and the outfits looked great!

The winner, Ella Bowen (left), Logen Hemmingway 2nd (centre) and Emily Clitherow 3rd (right) with Hayley Kay from Radio Wave

Event 2 – Scary Monsters – Age 5 to 8 years – 200 metres

This was our most popular event of the day - a series of timed heats determined the fastest three runners on the day.

Event 3 – Biggest Monsters – Age 9 to 13 years – 400 metres

It was great to see so many fantastic outfits on the day - and they all made it round a full circuit of the athletics track.

Hannah Maskill (2nd) and Luke Richardson (Winner)

Event 4 – Fylde Coast Mascot Champion Race – 100metres

Mascots from many of the tourist attractions, football clubs and soft play centres met-up for this annual race.  They all wanted to be the Fylde Coast Mascot Champion! Congratulations to Bling from Sandcastle Waterpark who is the 2010 winner!

Bling from Sandcastle Waterpark was the winner while Harry and Chester (both from YMCA) were second and third

Event 5 – Monster Dash Fun Run 5Km

A mildly undulating and very scenic run around Stanley Park. There was no hurry with this one - it’s the taking part that counts.

To help us maximise the charity donation we managed to secure a number of prizes from many generous businesses in the local area. These will be given to those runners raising the most sponsorship money. Please see the 'INCENTIVES' section section for full details.

Being presented with their medals by Radio Wave’s Roy Lynch are (from left to right)
Paul Sparrow (Runner-up), Anthony Jewitt (Winner) and Jon Cross (Third place)

Pictured on the right is our Blackpool Town Crier, Barry McQueen, who kindly agreed to take on the role of MC for the event.
